i am a huge fan of the late elliott smith...
he is my favorite poet and i will include his lyrics here often...
if you do not know who he is, you should definitely give him a listen,
his songs were a great comfort to the sad and lonely...
an excerpt from mr smith..
no life..
no life..
everything you need to keep it together..
to keep you off the street..
no life..
no life..
once i used to see
a beautiful stranger
walking next to me...
(don't pick me up..
i'm fine right where i am...)
e.s.
you've never heard of elliott smith????
he was a creative genius.. an indie singer/songwriter born in texas who lived right here in my neighborhood portland where he became famous when his song 'miss misery' was nominated for an academy award (theme from the movie 'good will hunting') and he played it at the oscars...
i don't know what i'd do if i didn't have his songs to this day..
although sadly, he killed himself in los angeles a few years back...
he had a terrible time with alcoholism & drugs & depression..

needle in the hay is one of his best.. for sure...
if you like it you should listen to one of his cd's like x/o or either/or or kill rock stars...
i'm biased though, i love them all, especially his last cd released after he died, from a basement on the hill...
