we have too many cool places here in portland to count ~

one of them is music millenium on burnside ~

we were there yesterday looking for some vinyl ~

it's not your typical record & cd store ~

for one thing there are these fellows ~

the walls are filled with retro novelty goodness like gumby, felix, mr bill, giant eyeballs & even slug stampede! ~

retro fisher price, tin toys, games.. even mr dad's inner child finds treasure here ~

emergency bigfoot & all seeing eyes ~

all manner of retro candy up front ~

what would jesus wear? ~

incense ~

& yes, this is potland afterall ~

so although sadly i couldn't snag the limited edition special vinyl i was looking for, we did bring home fun toys anyway ~

i'll be posting my finds here soon enough ~

remember next time you visit pdx, don't miss this spot ~

the world was white with snow when i woke up this morning, it's beginning to look alot like xmas & so it's time to put on the old christmas music.. this reader's digest set from 1984 has some of our favorite vintage xmas music on it.. basically at our house we like anything by bing crosby, burl ives or nat king cole, favorites like marshmallow world by bing or o holy night by nat.. it just doesn't feel like xmas without good vintage music & carols in the house ~

while i'm posting up vinyl i thought i'd tuck this in here.. this cool vintage red raven 78 record from 1956 has a zoetropic label so that as it rotates it looks like the animals move! includes little white duck & old macdonald had a farm ~

here's another bing crosby xmas song i used to make our vintage family xmas video many years ago ~

of course with winter come the nasty viruses.. we're all sick with bad colds & have to stay inside & play videogames.. not such a bad thing..

tolkien time ~ audio

i'm not the bookworm toxic was due to a problem with my eyes, but i love audiobooks read to me like on this lord of the rings cd set ~

& here's a cool vintage lord of the rings picture vinyl album ltd. collector's edition from tolkien ent. berkeley california 1978 ~

& vintage bbc lotr cassette tape set ~

with ian holm as the voice of frodo ~

the music of lord of the rings dvd & tolkien documentary ~

we also like the music from the lotr rings trilogy like on these cds ~

my favorite is gollum's song by emiliana torrini ~
