flashback friday favorite ~ eraserhead gumby?!

another fun vintage gumby item today ~

the gumby electric drawing desk set from lakeside ~

this cool little light up desk is one of my favorite gumby items ~

plug it in & there's a 15 watt lightbulb underneath ~

& it comes with this packet of tracing sheets to get you started drawing your own gumby adventures ~

instructions ~

tracing paper & drawing paper, as well as colored pencils & a sharpener are included ~

i'm still keeping an eye out for the gumby eraser shown here which is missing from this set (UPDATE! see the end of this post ;) ~

weird wednesday ~ ostrich

for this weird wednesday a flashback favorite post of old..

our little alice recently received a gift from sally :) ~

it was delivered to her by her friend ostrich who she first met here back at xmastime ~

we thought she might be intimidated, but she loved her <3 ~

so ostrich gave her the mystery ball ~

which kinda freaked her out! ~

the fur on her back stood up like a fin!! (i had a little fun with the editing here..) ~

but it was all part of the fun ~

& ostrich explained to her that she should open up the mystery ball ~

so she did ~

it took several tries ~

& the paper was half the fun :D ~

guess who was hiding inside? ~

gumby!! ~

it was a fun time for little alice (& her papparazi!) ~

this has been a weird wayback wednesday favorite post of old, ostrich is currently hibernating away this hot summer in the cool of the toyroom with her friends ~

flashback friday - videolog

this is a flashback friday favorite post from summer of 2022! so summer's here & it has been too hot ~

this is the season for vampires like us to close up the curtains & turn on the a/c & bingewatch old movies, right? ~

a good time to share my old videolog ~

which is of course covered in stickers including gumby & emily strange ~

so way back in the day i was an avid vhs taper of old tv shows & movies ~

as you can tell from a glance into 'the video vault' ~

another kind of sticker, do these old vhs & cassette labels make you feel nostalgic? ~

during the 80s i collected all my favorite old tv shows on tape ~

this time of year i'd be stocking up enough blank vhs tapes for the upcoming twilight zone marathon! ~

i also collected night gallery, outer limits & other scifi shows & movies ~

even all the original star treks ~

yeah, nerd. ~

i'd collect mr rogers episodes ~

& other favorites from toxic's childhood ~

davey & goliath ~

& obviously gumby! ~

ren & stimpy ~

there's still all kinds of cool old ephemera tucked away in the videolog ~

& eventually i tried to buy or transfer our video library to dvd in later years ~

but i love these old pages, like this one with joe bob briggs ~

mst3k fan & reel wild cinema fan club stuff ~

i think mr dad & i have seen all the old b movies out there at some point ~

i had such a collection i had to create my own label ~

i also liked to videotape our own home movies & transfer old 8mm films to vhs & eventually dvd, those are like our own time machine now <3 ~
