green ghost game

^{happy halloween!!}

for halloween a classic vintage game from transogram ~

green ghost, the original glow in the dark classic from 1965 ~

toxic never had this game or played it in her day, but my hubby did as a kid.. once while he & his brother were playing green ghost with the lights off their dad snuck up outside the window nearby & scared them to pieces!! ~

the glowing board has red spaces to move along on this version (there were several different versions of this game with different color schemes, but this is my favorite one..) ~

it has a haunted house, tree & shipwreck, & also 3 pits that are only opened with the right key ~

you get to choose to be one of 4 different pets, a cat, a bat, a vulture or a mouse ~

& you are trying to find the green ghost's lost child, kelly, but he looks just like all the other little ghost children.. (these small vintage game pieces would never fly today as the ghost children are veritable throat plugs..) ~

the ghost children are hiding in the pits along with scary snakes, bones & bat feathers (?!) ~

the snakes are just pieces of old rubber bands ~

gameplay is surprisingly complex, but once all the ghost children are found the green ghost will spin to reveal which one is kelly ~

whoever found kelly wins, so basically the entire confusing game is superfluous & it all is decided at the end with one spin.. lol ~

the box is half the fun ~

with its cool glowy graphics ~

it really does glow in the dark quite well even after almost 50 years ~

$5.99 at bargain city! expect to pay much more for one of these nowadays ~

the transogram company also made the cool glowing vintage kabala game ~

this halloween my son & hubby & i decided to try to play ~

flashback friday - kids' meals

so i mentioned in yesterday's post how my inner kid is going through happy meal toy withdrawls these days ~

since we're not out collecting as we use to & hitting the fast food lunch spots for toys & prizes ~

there was a time when, if i didn't get a toy, i didn't eat ;) ~

we've been eating kids' meals since before my son was even born ~

for all the cool collectible toys ~

& then through my son's childhood we went through every collector phase ~

burger king pokemon trader nights down in socal were a blast ~

the power rangers & lord of the rings crazes ~

& all the great halloween themed happy meals like this one which included vhs tapes! ~

jack in the box casper buckets <3 ~

carl's jr kids treat bags ~

my son's favorite was always wienerschnitzel ever since he was tiny ;) ~

back when they gave out little golden books as prizes :) ~

our fright lights were well used too ~

mcd happy meal mcnugget buddies ~

we loved going to all the good movies ~

& then collecting all the associated prizes ~

as you can see we went a bit overboard at times! ~

but again we have such fun memories associated with our collection ~

i got to relive childhood alongside my son <3 ~

classics ~

giant 'you & me' happy meals for you & your child together :D ~

we kinda miss in & out burgers ~

but we have our own pnw equivelent up here ~

burgerville ~

nature friendly prizes ;) ~

there's also firehouse subs ~

quizno's & boston market ~

we used to go to chicfila, but no longer :( ~

taco bell, jack in the box, dairy queen ~

sonic, wendy's, kfc & little caeser's ~

every place had kids' meals with toys ~

because, right? ~

but i fear the days of kids' meal toys galore may be ending? ~

i'm so glad we rode that wave all through my son's era ~

& saved all our treasures too ;) ~

theme parks had kids' meal collectibles as well ~

looking back i had certain favorites ~

hello kitty & monster high of course ~

i ate my fair share of chicken nuggets that's for sure! ~

& subway sandwiches ~

disney ~

books, audiobooks & cd/roms were always a good score ~

listening library ~

oz & alice ~

including madame alexander dolls ~
