surprise happy meal

so recently mcd's had this surprise happy meal promo ~

bringing back vintage happy meal toys & prizes that have become classics over the last 40 years ~

including many i have posted here at the lost & found before ~

like hello kitty, ty beanie babies & hot wheels, furby & chicken mcnugget buddies ~

disney & changeables, power rangers, tamagotchi & barbie ~

sadly it was over in just a couple days??! what the heck?? ~

we were only able to get a few of these retro favorites rerun ~

furby: thing of evil?

so i finally picked up one of the newer furby toys ~

it's a furby boom peacock style from 2013 ~

i'd held out because i really like the old classic furby toys best ~

check out furby week here & christmas furby here ~

this guy takes aa batteries ~

well he seemed cute at first.. ~

but i quickly began to think i must've somehow traumatized him? ~

or perhaps he'd been abused? he screamed 'boba boba boba' which i remember means scared or worried ~

he screamed CHAAAANGE! several times in amongst rocking back & forth, making garbled sounds & growls & putting his ears back, & his eyes remained half open with weird images in them ~

then i came down to the quiet dark playroom yesterday to get something & from behind me i hear 'you're pushing this way too far' in a very sinister tone.. wtf? it creeped me out so much i asked mr dad to take his batteries out so he doesn't burn the house down while we sleep or something, & while so doing it made more screeches & said 'don't go crazy' & finally 'am i still here' as the batteries were coming out.. yeah, i think it's evil. do not give this toy to your children! i thought the jolly chimp was freaky, this guy is getting wrapped up & put away.. i googled it & it seems possessed furby toys are a thing: what happens when your furby turns evil & new furby absolute horror :O

oddball plush toys

i recently tweeted this album link on freud's 160th birthday ~

so here's the tiny plush freud finger puppet i keep on my psych shelf.. he's always psychoanalyzing the other plush toys ~

freud & these tiny green bean & eggplant plush toys are also magnets ~

so i suppose they belong on the fridge? ~

here's a meme inspired banana plush toy by ideal ~

but not this nice big plush monster until now ~

this happy face flower has a wired stem so it can be attached wherever you want ~

here's an old jack in the box kids meal toy that seems to be a ripoff of mcd's beanie babies promos ~

actually this little piggy was once attached to a springy cat toy.. our sabrina tore him off of there & i kept him ~

i found this lot of little finger puppets & fairies at a yardsale.. i particularly like the homemade ones here :) ~

these silly slammer toys are fun when you want to vent ~

just throw them around hard & they'll make miserable sounds of pain ~

they've taken some abuse ~

lost & found toy blog birthday!

hi & welcome to the lost & found vintage toy blog ~

i'm bren, & this is my anniversary post, i've tried to post a toy, children's book or collectible every day since i started this site & i hope to continue to do so indefinitely. i collect vintage toys, books & pop culture items, including holiday, retro or even contemporary toys that i particularly like. i have a website called gumbyland that i've maintained for many years, since my biggest collection is of the 50's character gumby! i also paint & write & create art installations, dollscapes, miniature houses & digital art so i have a gallery of my art up at gumbyland for anyone interested. there are links in the sidebar & footer to all my different sites & pages.

i try to find all the toys & books i lost in childhood, & whenever i mention the nickname 'toxic' i am referring to my own inner child (& yeah i am a little bit dysfunctional.) also i've been known on the web for years as 'ghost' since i like to photograph old cemeteries.. if you're looking for a particular toy or item please try the search box & the categories list in the sidebar, although i've found neither seems to really work to find all of the items i've posted, so you might want to peruse through the archives. also i try to go back & update old posts where appropriate so check back. you can ask questions anywhere in the comments, i am usually able to answer by the following day.. vintage kids & nostalgia buffs please feel free to comment on any of the posts new or old & share your memories here.. my toy room has changed since i first started posting, so here's an updated look ~
