attention all comic book fans! it's that time again ~

tomorrow is Free Comic Book Day again! ~

in that spirit i'll be focusing on comic books for awhile here at the lost & found ~

if you've never been you should get out this year to your nearest comic book store & get a handful of free comics ~

there's always something for everyone so bring your kids ~

now i'm not really a superhero fan so i'll leave that to the guys who know about them ~

i'm more of a gothbox trawler ~

like last year i'll be hitting cosmic monkey in portland & i like comics in vancouver washington ~

maybe i'll see you out there ~

it's free comic book day 2023! ~

so did you grab your free comic books yet? ~

here are our selections ;)~

we've been there for fcbd since the very first event (yes. nerds.) ~

from amazing comics & hidey-ho comics down in socal ~

to cosmic monkey, excalibur, books with pictures & things from another world here in portland ~

we never missed one until the covid years ~

so fun to snag these freebies ~

retro classics like archie & madballs vs garbage pail kids :D ~

nightmare before xmas! ~

something special this year is the runescape issue ~

raven is a lifelong veteran max level player since day 3 ~

here's his character ravenmoonx with newly acquired zaros godsword & twilight pegasus ;) ~

so i had to pull out one of my monster cereal boxes to store this year's haul in, my ghost closet holds a massive comicbook stash <3 ~

lost & found toys

i had a dream last night about kid's meals & prizes ~

& i woke up with a realization ~

as a life-long collector i've been going through happy meal toy withdrawls! ~

i always use to say, if i don't get a toy, i don't eat ;) ~

we don't venture out to estate sales, library sales, fcbds, collectible shops & fast-food places much anymore ~

so i'm reduced to finding my treasure by boredshopping online these days ~

my guilty pleasure? ~

among my other creative projects ~

even our home is retro ~

of course ~

happiness is a box of books ;) ~

but it got me thinking of all the cool memories i have associated with all the years of assembling the lost & found toys blog & gumbyland ~

the unexpected finds! ~

the thrill of the hunt, never knowing what you might discover :D ~

toxic was a collector but she lost most of her old possessions over the years ~

finding & enjoying vintage toys has been a blast! ~

it is like a time machine ~

woolworth's xmas 1953

one last xmas post ~

before the year is over ~

i love this reproduction comic book ~

taken from the woolworth's 1953 xmas toy catalogue ~

a fun comic for kids awaiting xmas & choosing what toys to write to santa about ;) ~

toxic loved her local woolworth's store ~

especially at holiday time ~

it made walking home from school a treat to be able to go inside & see the new toys or holiday items ~

& woolworth's was inexpensive enough to be able to buy gifts for family members too! ~

the pets & paper aisles were always a favorite as well ~

& who didn't love having a grilled cheese sandwich & milkshake at the little lunch counter in back :D ~

i grew up with woolworth's & even was still buying fisher price toys for my own son there before our local store closed ~

classic xmas nostalgia <3 ~

dolls, cars, little golden books or guns (you'll shoot your eye out!) ~

they had what every kid wanted ~

well, goodbye 2022 ~
