i'm bringing back this old post because the end makes me think of my grandma vira, who would've been 111 years old today! <3
we're all caught up on netflix & hoping for a break now from the heatwave as summer kindly fucks off, & once again thinking of pulling out some boardgames (boredgames) so i thought i'd share this old post from a couple years back..
so yesterday i mentioned in my post how since we've been stuck inside due to smoky bad air from the nearby wildfire plus the covid19 threat, we've been in our time machine alot, watching our cool old home movies, of which we have a glut of treasures.. in one episode from 2000 mr dad & i played a boardgame tournament to try to settle who would get to reign as game champion. looking back we realized we messed up some of the rules & made a few mistakes, also i helped out mr dad when i probably shouldn't have, it ended up so close as to be a draw ~
so i challenged mr dad to a rematch! ~
we would play some of the same games we did 20 years ago & whoever won 3 first would hold the title ~
we started with an old family favorite, sorry ~
& mr dad swiftly beat me thanks to my own homemade custom card which i drew at least 4 times like some karmic backlash!!!! ~
next we moved on to songburst the 70s & 80s edition ~
& i held my position, having never been beaten at this one ;) ~
(this youtube is from a family game night one xmas years back) ~
now tied 1 to 1 we went on to a 6 round game of another old family favorite, yahtzee ~
i beat him soundly because this time i resisted giving out helpful tips & advice.. lol ~
yahtzee score pages of old ~
now with me in the lead 2 to 1 we broke out our original trivial pursuit board & cards ~
mr dad's a tad older than me & knows more history & geography here, whereas i'm better with the art & literature or science & nature categories, this game was close... but he won it! & we were tied again at 2 to 2!! ~
we agreed on a game of scrabble for the tiebreaker ~
we like this deluxe edition.. & i waxed his buns as we like to say at our house ;) did you ever doubt i would? well, i might've had a little help.. the last tiles i had left on my tray right at the end of the game just happened to spell out the name of my grandma vira, who taught me how to play, i kid you not, it was her favorite game & i think she couldn't resist visiting from over my shoulder & saying hi :) ~
p.s. halloween is coming! :D
