something different for this flashback friday ~
a long post while i sit here trying to keep warm on this cold morning ~
so i've posted about how i started my gumbyland website over 20 years ago now ~
well i also began putting up my artwork up at my website at the same time ~
at first i called it the secret gallery ~
but as my online persona became known as 'ghost' i changed it to the ghost gallery ~
it has grown & grown over all the years ~
to include drawings & paintings in all different mediums ~
in all different styles from realism to abstract & experimental ~
from studies & sketches ~
to installations ~
that i like to call 'dollscapes' ~
from down in socal to up here in the pacific northwest wonderland ~
& so you are invited anytime to visit my gallery online ~
there are 3 connected hallways ~
& wherever you see an X you can click to see details, extras or entire albums ~
but be sure to use a laptop & not a phone ~
or you won't hear the music playing ~
which is essential i have to say ~
so why not visit me in my wonderland ~
& slip down the rabbithole ~
into my own ghostly wonderland? ~
i'll leave a bunch of links here in this post to check out ~
but be sure to visit the entire ghost gallery up at gumbyland anytime for much more ~
note: the last hallway i call the 'rows of never opened doors' ~
on this page almost every image links to an entire album in itself ~
it has been my art therapy for many years ~
a guided imagery of sorts ~
i don't know how i would have coped with my strange life without the ghost gallery ~
look for special links for all of our mini houses ~
as well as our nature trails ~
or just peruse the art ~
the cemeteria album for example is particularly large ~
as i've been photographing old cemeteries & trees for decades now ~
feel free to let me know what you think in the comments ~
toxic was always drawing, painting or creating things out of boxes ~
so much of my artwork, like the lost & found toy blog, is inner child themed ~
for my fellow vintage kid friends ;) ~
also look for my kitty & backyard birdies albums ~
we are nature lovers here ~
there is also a special page linking to all of my photography albums ~
which includes a few of my films at the very bottom ~
just click to download them ~
they may take a little while to do this ~
i've encorporated many vintage toys into my installations over the years ~
many that i have posted about here at the lost & found blog ~
i think toxic was highly influenced by watching gumby as a very small child ~
it's as if my inner child grew up in gumby's toyroom along with him ~
& so many of our friends are old toys ~
there are many hidden things in the rows of never opened doors ~
this mandala/kaleidoscope i titled 'inner child' ~
this is a little cutout book i made called 'innerworld' ~
another photography album called 'january trees' ~
toys are often our best friends in childhood ~
i'm like a cat in that i've always loved boxes & made many kitty houses & playhouses out of them myself ~
this album called 'paintdrinker' is for my inner child who i nicknamed 'toxic' many years ago.. lol ~
Wow! This post really showcases so much of your artwork, Bren! <3 <3 <3 <3 I love it! I've been meaning to ask you.. do you display and sell in a gallery there in Portland?

you know we have a stairwell gallery here at the house, & anytime in the past anyone has asked about buying any of my art i'm afraid my son was like 'no, mom, you can't sell That one!' lol & i feel the same, like it has never been about money at all. funny during the recarpeting one of the guys asked the same question while working on the stairwell, & my hubby had to tell him sorry, not for sale.. but thanks for asking, you know? i love being able to have an online gallery with music & all the extras :)

Your work is just SO amazing and you would make a lot of money selling, but I totally understand why you don't do it and can't. Being creative because you love it and it's a gift is so different than if you were doing it for the money. You really are truly gifted, Bren! It would just be cool, even if you didn't sell it, to display it at a show that people could see it in person, but then people would want to buy it! HaHa! :D
I really appreciate that you have your online gallery and I try not to look at everything all the time and comment all of the time, because I don't want you and or your family thinking I'm some kind of crazy stalker! HaHa! :D I can be pretty intense with my OCD like I am with Gumby and I am a big fan of your blog! You really are a very cool and interesting person. My inner child loves Toxics Toyroom the most! Especially the library of books! I think I love that more than Gumbyland! :D
