today a flashback friday favorite post from winter of 2018: christmas is the season of the killer emus ~
i found this zoobooks issue recently & had to bring it home ~
since toxic is especially fond of emus & liked to draw them constantly ~
this issue with the emu on the cover has everything you'd ever want to know about emus, ostriches, rheas & other birds of that ilk, including a handy chart to show their size in comparison to us ~
ostrich centerfold ~
prehistoric relatives & killer cassowaries (including the mysterious moa, which are extinct because we ate them :O) ~
ostriches can be taught to herd sheep! ~
i believe i have passed on my love of large strange birds to my niece, stinabean ;) ~
if you are fortunate enough to visit with an ostrich, it has been my experience that they usually go for your buttons, so take care ~
get out your paints! oh, i'll get right on this! :D (right before my family has me put away..) ~
