it's our birthday today & toxic is taking over the blog for the day! ~
toxic is the nickname i've used forever for my own inner child, she's here & wants to share all her favorite vintage kid dvds to binge watch in the ac this weekend, flashback friday style ~
obviously we've already posted about some of these rather extensively, so let's just get down to the obvious right off:
gumby
davey & goliath
wizard of oz
click the links to visit entire categories devoted to these toxic favorites ~
i've also posted the original addams family & the munsters tv shows here before ~
classic toxic favorites ~
toxic still loves the little rascals & our gang comedies ~
we found this mega pack collector's edition bootleg that has a bunch of the originals ~
another favorite was the 70s tv show family ~
toxic liked kristy mcnichol's character, buddy ~
she also liked the pippi longstocking book & movies ~
because, let's face it, she is weird & badass ~
long before the peter jackson films our son loves were these animated versions that toxic watched on tv over & over & over every year ~
tolkien is another author i've devoted an entire category to here at the lost & found ~
another favorite book & animated film, watership down ~
toxic always liked to watch the family film festival on channel 5 down in socal every weekend ~
it was hosted by tom hatten, who would often show comedy favorites like the road movies with bob hope & bing crosby, with little rascals shorts before or after ~
he showed the best movies like the time machine or fantastic voyage, & he'd tell all kinds of information like hosts do on TCM, plus often show popeye cartoons ~
i'm sure that's where toxic would've seen the original willy wonka movie with gene wilder ~
a special favorite is the 1969 film called my side of the mountain ~
toxic was always scheming to run away from home & live up in the snow ~
she felt like an orphan with parents ~
speaking of orphans, the artful dodger from oliver is our favorite ~
jack wilde, who starred in the cool psychedelic old sid & marty krofft show, hr pufnstuf ~
such 60s fun ~
i always say, witchiepoo was my earliest fashion influence ~
this dvd set of the complete series includes the best coloring book & the music from the show ~
some examples from the book ~
toxic would've loved to have had these in her day when she could've played them on their family hammond organ with her other favorite songs ~
how lucky i am ~
the theme song for the show, someone who cares, which is a ridiculously powerful earworm (caution!) ~
witchiepoo again ~
sid & marty krofft also gave us the bizarre lidsville & land of the lost ~
such melodrama in this show! ~
toxic also wanted to be holly ~
she's also seen every episode of little house on the prairie more times than i can count ~
more like this next flashback friday..
bren (& toxic)
