this is my grandma's birthday ~
when she was a girl she loved & collected kewpies ~
in fact in old home movies she could be seen making my hair into a kewpie point when i was a baby ;) ~
i don't remember the story of how she came to lose them ~
she's been gone for almost 20 years now, but today i'm remembering her ~
as i recently added this adorable vintage composition kewpie doll to my toyroom ~
from the 40s, 13" tall & perfectly weighted, he still stands just right ~
some cracks & crazing, but still sturdy & adorable ~
i'll have to keep my eyes open to find a jumper for him to wear ~
i consulted my doll reference books for info here ~
my, mom, grandma & great grandma ~
update: kept my promise ~
but not knowing if my kewpie is a boy or a girl, & not wanting to presume, i found a vintage blue butterfly dress & a cool vest with home-sewn jr forest ranger patch on back ~
