brace yourself for a lengthy post with lots of pictures! ~
when i saw this vintage 50's era tin marx kitchen set come up on ebay i was elated ~
first of all because i love tin, especially vintage & dollhouse toys ~
but also because being host of gumbyland & a lifelong fan i immediately recognized this as gumby's kitchen from the original classic episode 'robot rumpus' & others ~
gumby goes to this fridge for a bottle of milk as he's talking to his mom (in fact he ends up inside it later on..) ~
& there's the milk! ~
well needless to say, i won the auction & brought this magnificent toy home to gumbyland ~
my hubby (bdhp) bought it for me as a valentine's day gift! he's been my santa of sorts for many years, he knows a toy like this is better than diamonds to me ~
crisper drawers at the bottom of the icebox just like toxic's childhood fridge ~
gumby's mom looked out this window into a garden & what i think is a well ~
there's a radio on the wall & a dishwasher you can fill with tiny dishes ~
with shelves for cup & saucers & plates ~
the stove shows a turkey roasting in the oven ~
& there it is! ~
more shelves for pots & pans & canned goods ~
as well as a broom closet ~
this toy is in exceptional condition for its age & it's pretty big at 2 feet across & about a foot tall ~
louis marx & co inc ny ~
have you all of them? ~
i love this vintage label still on the box ~
from santa ~
the turkey is shown on the box & i believe these red items are original to the set ~
as are these dishes, which have a similar toy mark as on the box ~
& pots & pans ~
food items ~
& accessories ~
telephone, clock, vaccuum cleaner & ironing board ~
these canned goods may have been added in later ~
corn, tomatoes & cleaning products ~
as well as these other items ~
cardtable with collapseable legs marked renwall toys ~
mixing bowl & tiny iron toasters ~
these yellow items may or may not be original to the set? ~
i'm so happy to have this new (old) item in my toyroom.. :)
if you enjoy this kind of toy check back soon here at the lost & found..

I enjoyed your article. I saved one of these kitchen sets from being trashed after my dad died. Now I have retired & downsized & am looking to find a home for the set. I was thinking about a toy museum but my older sister could use the money so I will probably put it up for sale. Do you have a feel for a fair price? I have original box but not as many accessories as your set. I wish I could keep it but alas no space & younger generations are not interested. I usually donate but charities around here won't accept old toys & as I said my sister needs the money. Thanks in advance for any insight.

donna ~
i have found there is an avid interest out there for vintage tin kitchen toys like this one, especially if you have the box as you say.. just my opinion, but if i were selling it i'd run it as an auction rather than 'buy it now' & start the price at around $75.. it will go up from there once it gets seen.. also i think some of the accessories with my set were added along the way & were not original so i wouldn't worry about it being exactly complete, just take some good photos of it, you know? good luck! & thanks for visiting..

I am looking to buy this exact toy kitchen play set. Is this for sale, or do you know where I can purchase one?

hi ~
as my post says this was a valentine's day gift from my husband, not for sale.. but as the earlier comment is from someone selling one, & based on what i've seen on ebay, they do come up once in awhile, but are tough to find in this kind of condition.. if you are patient?
good luck!

I bought a Kitchen just the same (and 5 others) as you yesterday but in the color (blue/green)- but not so much accessories - but I have the chicken.
