this is mattel's mad scientist monster lab from 1986 ~
it came with a clear tank on this stand that holds accessories ~
accessories included 2 monster face molds & 2 texturizer tools ~
also bones to put together to make monsters ~
& miscellaneous parts for them such as fins, antennae, weapons & mechanical parts (i'm pretty sure there used to be some beady little eyeballs too?) ~
you would put together monsters using the bones & then cover them in squishy monster flesh or living ice (ours got all used up!) ~
then using packets of flesh remover (baking soda? we also used these up) you could fill up the tank with water & one of the packets & dunk in your monsters to bubble off their flab! see the 1987 tv ad ~
it's a cool little lab ~
there were basically 2 monsters you could start with ~
a thinner one & a stouter one ~
to me these armatures always remind me of prometheus & bob ~
spare parts ~
mixing spoon ~
underside of the lab ~
supposedly you could waste your monster flesh by flinging globs of it at this target poster ~
mad scientist journal & comic book that came with the set ~
with instructions ~
more oddball october tomorrow!
ghost & toxic
