i've had this vintage lakeside pokey item for many years, but until recently it looked like this ~
i had the original pokey bitty loose, but whatever child of long ago had extricated it from the card had also taken the special lucky coin with them.. i thought i'd never see one.. until a week ago on ebay, after more than a decade of regularly checking the gumby items, i saw it there!
it was much larger than i'd expected ~
a very nice ebayer pulled his auction since there were no bidders yet, to make sure i got this coin reunited with its original packaging.. (thank you, russell!) ~
i very carefully replaced the lucky coin & pokey & this item is now happily brought home to gumbyland, where all the old gumby & pokeys retire in their old age.. :)
having hosted gumbyland for many years now, i feel a bit like a museum curator just for gumby.. lol in fact holly harman (art clokey & gloria harman's daughter who brought us the new gumby show, & also the voice of minga) once told me that she always thought there should be a gumby museum, & she thinks that gumbyland is it, appropriately a 'virtual museum' ~ (gumby always kept up with the times.. )
i still love finding a good rare vintage gumby item, even after all these years of collecting ~
lakeside 1967 - made in hong kong ~
if you are thinking of becoming a collector, always start with what you love, it will bring you many years of happiness..

Wow, the coin is very cool and looks even better in the package. These rare Lakeside packaged items really add spice to a vintage Gumby and Pokey collection.
Your museum is really expanding!

until i received it, i hadn't realized the coin would be as large as the void space in the package.. haha!
you know, rather than update my gumbyland website (the photos are kinda small there..) i thought i'd just keep highlighting gumby items here every once in a while & maybe add links over at my collection page..
it gives me an excuse to dig the old gumby stuff out & rephoto them.. ;)

I have one of these coins, a little more worn. Can you tell me how rare it is and the value?

beth ~
i can tell you that it is rare because i kept my eye out for one on ebay for years before i found one.. that said, since then i have seen this item unopened up on ebay a couple of times (intact) for fairly high prices.. i couldn't tell you a price because it's really only desirable to gumby collectors who lack only the coin part or just appreciate it by itself.. there's no set value for it.. good luck!
